IAI Completes Second Piping Engineering Boot Camp®

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, December 22, 2006. Information Assets, Inc. (IAI), has completed its second Piping Engineering Boot Camp® course. The Piping Engineering Boot Camp® course is designed to enable fresh engineering graduates to perform to reimbursable productivity levels immediately and accelerate their professional development in subsequent months. This second class nearly doubled the size of the first class (Fall, 2005) to 21 students.

This class was sponsored by Technip Geoproduction Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Malaysian Marine and Heavy Engineering (MMHE), (formerly known as Malaysian Shipyard and Engineering Sdn. Bhd.), a wholly owned subsidiary of MISC Berhad, in turned majority owned by Petronas. The course was part of the Industrial Skills Enhancement Program (INSEP) training initiative and was held at the Selangor Human Resources Development Centre (SHRDC) in Shah Alam, Malaysia. Technip and MMHE design offshore Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) and related facilities.

This version of the Piping Engineering Boot Camp® is tailored to fresh graduates. It involved 6 weeks of training over about 30 topics. Attendees both used industry standard piping design tools and completed a design project. Written reports were prepared, complete with drawings and analyses and presented in English.

Successful graduates also are required to pass the Professional Piping Designer (PPD) Level I Certification exam offered by the Society of Piping Engineers and Designers (SPED). The exam is a 3rd party documentation of the quality of the piping design training received. For more information, see www.spedweb.com.

Dr. William G. Beazley, President of IAI and class instructor, said, “This was our most successful class ever. It was a complete design experience for each engineer, spanning a full range of tasks from instrumentation to piping design to fabrication to erection planning.” Dr. Beazley has prepared nearly 3,500 slides for IAI’s Piping Boot Camp® series of training programs. A portion of the training slides are used by the Society of Piping Engineers and Designers for their Process Plant Layout course.
